I think the colour would sit better if you were to address the ground of the paper – perhaps a wash before the application of the gouache? Just a suggestion as the work is looking much fresher and there is a freedom and joy in these Cyprus works.
Thanks for the comment. I have considered putting a ground down first, and have tried it once. I felt it created a little too much of a sense of space, and I’m wary of this. It can make the image look psychedelic. I am at a very early stage, so watch this space : )
